North Korea is developing a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) according to a report on Friday from Japan’s Kyodo News Agency, who cited a senior United States military commander.
According to Kyodo, Cecil Haney, a U.S. Navy admiral who currently serves as Commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, made the remark during testimony at a hearing at U.S. congress.
The remark raises the credibility of a recent U.S. media report that the North conducted its first flight test of a new SLBM last month.
Haney said that North Korea is also developing a missile that can be fired from a mobile missile ejection launcher, the report said.
Haney also said that North Korea owns miniaturized nuclear warhead that can be mounted on a ballistic missile.
