Opposition candidate Aecio Neves would defeat President Dilma Rousseff by nearly 13 percentage points in Brazil’s presidential election runoff on October 26, according to a new poll that was published on Friday.
According to the poll, if the runoff were held today, Neves would have the victory with 56.4% of the valid votes, versus 43.6% for Rousseff.
The poll was conducted by Brazilian research institute Sensus, whose data is less closely watched than that of the larger polling firms Ibope and Datafolha, whose polls both show Neves and Rousseff in a photo finish.
Last week’s poll from Sensus showed that Neves had an even wider lead of 17.6 percentage points.
The data from the poll was published on Friday on the website of Brazilian news magazine IstoÉ.
