“Primer Wael al-Halaqi discussed with Russian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Kinschaka ways to activate the agreements signed between Syria and Russia” Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said.
During the meeting which took place on Thursday, February 26th, the two nations discussed signing new agreements covering the following areas:
- electric power,
- drinking water,
- higher education,
- transport,
- petroleum,
- mills and granaries.
“Al-Halaqi affirmed the Syrian government’s desire to open new economic cooperation channels with the friendly countries, with Russia being among the top, a thing that would help reduce the bad effects of the unjust economic blockade imposed on the country (…) Achieving that end includes providing the needed foodstuffs, wheat and oil derivatives, the Premier added” SANA reported.
The Syrian Premier Wael al-Halaqi invited Russian companies again in order to boot investments to contribute to the reconstruction process.
On the other hand, the Russian Ambassador expressed his confidence in Syria’s ability in combating terrorism.
